IMPROVEMENTS !!
My
Improvements:
Hi I am doing much better now than before I went to
China. The whole trip was definitely worth the expense. The surgery
went well, besides the pain after for a few days. I continue to see
improvements. Since I had the injections I have noticed that I am now able to
move my fingers on my right hand (a little) but its something to work
with, I am now able to pull my feet back to me while in the sitting position,
I've noticed more muscle strength/stamina, and I'm noticing sensations of
hot and cold in various locations below my level of injury, like I can
feel the warm water on the outsides of my arms, on different parts of my legs
and I actually feel cold again on my lower back down to my knees and on my feet.
I also noticed I'm sweating now in places below injury that I didn't before
injections. There was another c-5/c-6 incomplete guy (Gabi) there while I
was there , he was worse off than me so he receive like 5 hours of therapy a day
while there I had therapy for about 3 hours everyday except Sunday. Therapy is
INCLUDED in the price.
Best News EVER!
I Woke up Thursday January 26th to Find This
in my mailbox
Dear Mr. Allen,
I will call you tonight. It seems the Beike group will accept you as their
second spinal cord patient and you will just pay US $xxxxx for four
injections of stem cells over a 25 day period and rehabilitation - this is
the recommended time period of stay and injections but some people opt for
more after being here. If you decide you want extra treatment while here
you can add money for a longer stay to have more injections. Let's talk
about it more when I call you tonight my time, morning your time to see if
you would like to make the journey.
Thank you.

From the
Shenzhen Economic Daily
Note: This is a translation of an article from the Shenzhen Economic Daily
with added information from talking to Dr. Yang, the doctor who gave Zuo
Jian a check-up.
Nanshan Hospital used hematopoietic (umbilical cord
blood) stem cell injections to treat patients from other provinces and gave
them hope to have a cure in the future. The head of the hospital, Yang
Jiayong, sent two doctors to a small village of Hunan province to pay follow
up visit to the first patient, a paraplegic construction worker, Zuo Jian,
who had the stem cell injections in August and September.
Nanshan Hospital has treated eleven patients with stem
cells. The first patient was a construction worker from the Shenzhen
Construction Company. He is thirty-seven years old and is from the Hunan
province. In January of 2005, a chain block fell on his back resulting in a
T12-L1 complete spinal cord injury. He lost all the feeling and motor
ability from the waist down. He could not control his bowel movements and
had to use a catheter for urination. On July 3 rd he had an
operation to fuse his spine. On August 29th, he had the first of
three stem cells injections at Nan Shan hospital. In fact, he was supposed
to have four injections but after the third he felt there was no improvement
so he decided not to have the fourth. Zuo Jian went back to his hometown in
Changsha and had forty one days of rehabilitation at Zhong Nan University
Hospital. See
